Job Description: General Manager, Domestic Trade (Soft Commodities)
Reporting to: Chief Operating Officer or Chief Executive Officer
Job Purpose: Provide strategic leadership for all domestic trading of agricultural soft commodities driving volume growth, margin improvement, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning & Business Development
- Define and execute domestic-trade strategy: market segmentation, channel development, and pricing.
- Identify and onboard new off-takers (e.g., food manufacturers, commodity brokers).
- P&L Ownership
- Responsible for P&L, working-capital, and margin targets.
- Monitor and report on financial performance vs. budgets.
- Leadership & Organization
- Lead cross-functional teams: trade, operations, finance, quality, and marketing.
- Build talent pipeline and succession plans.
- Risk & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to all statutory, trading, and quality regulations.
- Oversee credit terms, trade-finance structures, and risk-mitigation frameworks.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent the company with key customers, regulators, and industry associations.
- Forge partnerships with mills, cooperatives, and logistics providers.
